Settle Down

Video Podcast

Settle Down brings Felicia, Mallory, Shani and Vanessa—four founders from First Nations and Métis backgrounds—together to talk honestly about entrepreneurship: what they built, what it cost them and what they learned by refusing to play by colonial rules.

The creators came to Haq with an ad hoc pilot recorded on an iPhone and an ambition for a full season of 12 episodes. They needed high-quality audio and video production, a visually appealing studio setting, and enough structure to sustain the series without losing its vulnerability, candidness and levity.

Haq worked with the hosts to turn that pilot into a repeatable show. Story meetings established each episode’s thematic spine, drew from the hosts’ knowledge and lived experience, and assigned segment leads according to whose story or perspective belonged in the foreground. Haq then developed episode outlines, guiding questions, introductions, credits, sponsor reads and a recurring format built around a cold open, four conversational segments and a closing ritual.

The production plan staggered development, recording and post-production so one episode could be released while the next was being edited and another was taking shape. Haq coordinated studio sessions, multi-camera recording, rough cuts, host notes, final edits and mixes, sponsor integration, vertical video and final delivery—giving the 12-episode season a reliable production rhythm without sanding down the chemistry that made the original pilot work.

Episode 9: We’re Allowed to be Angry

This episode of Settle Down dives headfirst into a conversation many people avoid but every Indigenous woman knows intimately: anger.

Grounded in powerful cultural teachings about release, ceremony and community care, this conversation asks a bigger question: What if anger isn’t the problem...but the catalyst?

Honest, raw, and at times uncomfortable, this episode is a reminder that anger can be a force for accountability, change and ultimately—healing.
